Sorti au beau milieu de la guerre du Vietnam, le premier film de Robert Altman est un ahurissant brlot antimilitariste dont on peine, aujourd'hui encore, comprendre comment il a pu franchir les fourches caudines de la censure amricaine. Loin de la matrise technique et narrative qui a depuis fait sa touche Short Cuts, Gosford Park Altman signe ici un film joyeusement foutraque, sans scnario vritable, mais compense avec une nergie et un humour ravageurs. paul par des acteurs inconnus l'poque Donald Sutherland et Elliot Gould ont ensuite fait la carrire que l'on sait il russit faire un film de guerre totalement dpourvu de coups de feu (sauf durant le match de foot final...) mais pas de sang Urgences n'a rien invent en matire d'utilisation d'hmoglobine pendant les oprations et furieusement pacifiste une poque o son producteur, Darryl Zanuck, faisait plutt dans la propagande patriotique Tora! Tora! Tora!, Patton. Ce DVD est une superbe occasion de redcouvrir ce chef-d'uvre d'humour noir et d'intelligence, plus trente ans aprs sa sortie. --Michal Cuq
