Quelle toile! Avec plus de 400millions de dollars au box-office, Spiderman, ce hros Marvel n en 1962 de la plume de Stan Lee et du crayon de Steve Dikto, fait une entre fracassante dans l'histoire du cinma. Avec les deux Batman tourns par Tim Burton, il s'agit sans conteste d'un des meilleurs clonages BD-cinma. Rien n'a t laiss au hasard: une ralisation confie un fan de la premire heure, Sam Raimi (Un plan simple, Darkman, Evil Dead), dont l'univers, par bien des points, rappelle celui du ralisateur d'Edward aux mains d'argent fascination pour les hros tourments, got pour les ambiances nocturnes d'inspiration gothiques et expressionnistes; un scnario pass entre les mains de David Koepp, (Jurassic Park, Mission Impossible, L'impasse) qui allie avec brio teen-movie et rcit initiatique sur le passage de l'adolescence l'ge adulte; des personnages camps avec intensit par Tobey Maguire, dans le rle titre, la fois agile, espigle et tourment, Kirsten Dunst, dans celui de sa ptillante petite amie, Willem Dafoe, dans en Bouffon Vert, la fois diabolique et sduisant. Enfin, dernier atout: New York. Rarement la ville n'est apparue aussi ludique et arienne. Au total, donc, un sans-faute ( l'image de la troublante et potique scne de baiser entre Spiderman et MaryJane), l'exception de ce plan final imprgn de patriotisme particulirement malvenu. --Sylvain Lefort
